Enroll Your School

You can enroll with Read Aloud in four easy steps! You’ll need the cooperation of your school principal and someone to serve as the School Coordinator. See the walkthrough below for more information.

Not sure if your school is already enrolled? Visit Our Counties page to find out!

1.

Talk to Your Principal and Get Their Approval

School principals often initiate the enrollment process with Read Aloud themselves, but if you’re a community member or teacher who wants to enroll a school, you can do so. Just be sure to get the agreement of your principal first.

2.

Choose your Read Aloud School Coordinator

Review the Read Aloud School Coordinator job description. We encourage you to choose someone familiar with your school, such as a current/retired teacher, a parent, or a community volunteer. This person should have good organization and people skills.

3.

Submit the School Sign-Up Form to Read Aloud

Complete the School Sign-up Form either online or on paper. We accept paper sign-ups either mailed to PO Box 1784, Charleston, WV 25326 or scanned and emailed to stateoffice@readaloudwv.org.

4.

Complete and Return the Teacher Sign-Up Form

This tells us which classrooms need readers. We will mail your coordinator a Teacher Sign-Up Form, or you can print the version below. Please encourage your teachers to list as many available times as possible – this greatly increases the likelihood that we’ll be able to match them with a reader!

In addition to weekly classroom readers, enrolled schools can request these materials for students:

Assorted Books

Click the icon to use our online Book Distribution application to request books for students. We can also help you to develop fun book distribution events for parents and students like our Free Popup Book Shop or a Snuggle & Read. Please keep in mind that most book distributions will need transport from our Charleston office.

Community Engagement Opportunities

Read Aloud WV and our local county chapters regularly participate school and community events to give free books to children. Our volunteers work county fairs, back-to-school celebrations, health expos, community read alouds, and much more. Please contact our Charleston office for more information on attending events in your neck of the woods.

Kids' Magazines

We have a lot of Highlights magazines to give away, plus some other, outdoorsy titles like Zoobies and Highlights. Email us at stateoffice@readaloudwv.org with the number of boxes you'd like and your plan to pick up from our Charleston office.
